In some cases, despite selecting the correct firmware for the update, when attempting to update from the CLI, after issuing the „copy …" command, switches in these series display an error message:

Write file "flash:/nos.img" error(Error:Type mismatching.)!
Jan 01 00:38:31:660 2006 S5750X-24S6X-EI DEFAULT/5/:The switch used software V706R301C011 update failed, the failed reason is Write local file error!

In this situation you can use one of several approaches, e.g. updating from boot mode or uploading an additional img file and booting the device from it. The simplest way is to issue the force-copy command, which should overwrite the existing img image, e.g.:

fcopy usb:/nos.img nos.img

Usually two system images are placed on the switch, as below:

The primary img file at the next boot time: flash:/nos.img
The backup img file at the next boot time: flash:/backup.img
Current booted img file: flash:/nos.img
The booted img file check: no
Repair primary img by backup img: no

In such a situation it is also worth replacing backup.img with the current one:

delete backup.img
copy usb:/nos.img backup.img

In the syntax above a USB pendrive was used as the source, but you can also use tftp, ftp or sftp.

In firmware versions from V707xxx onwards this fault does not occur and the switches can be updated normally with the „copy" command.
