Highlights
- Modernised the network infrastructure of a large data centre serving an academic environment.
- Provided a scalable architecture allowing expansion without replacing the whole infrastructure.
- DCN technical support became an important part of maintaining service stability.
Key information
- Stable operation of the infrastructure over many years.
- Segmentation of internal traffic and external client traffic.
- A long-term investment reducing frequent device replacements and downtime.
Project context
A large data centre serving an extensive academic computer network faced the need to provide reliable, scalable and long-lasting network infrastructure. The solution had to serve both its own operations and a growing group of business clients using the centre's resources.
Key challenges
Growing requirements for throughput, availability and stability meant the previous solutions no longer fully met the organisation's needs.
The key problem was maintaining operational continuity while expanding the infrastructure, without disruption for end users and business partners.
It was also important to find a technology partner who would provide not only the right class of hardware, but also solid after-sales support and a fast response to service requests.
Deployed solution
Enterprise-class network switches were deployed to modernise and expand the infrastructure, integrated with both the centre's internal network and the infrastructure dedicated to business clients.
The deployment included network segmentation — separating internal traffic from external client traffic to improve security and performance.
The architecture was designed to scale the environment without the need to replace the entire infrastructure.
Deployment results
The deployed infrastructure has been running stably over many years of operation, which directly translates into continuity of services provided internally and to business clients.
The long lifespan of the devices reduced the need for frequent replacements and the associated downtime. Professional DCN technical support minimises the risk of prolonged failures.
The project confirmed that properly selected DCN infrastructure, backed by solid technical support, is the foundation for the smooth operation of a demanding academic environment.
